My Pond in Houston, Texas

	For Mother's Day 1997 my kids and their friends hand dug the pond below. I had wanted a backyard pond for years and they found the Ortho Book on Ponds and went to work. It held about 900 gallons and was great.

We had a very violent storm and heavy rain for 2 days. The temperatures went from mid to high 70s to 38. The pond's water temperature went from 70 to 50 overnight. When it was over I expected to find brown water from run-off. Boy was I surprised! The pond couldn't have been clearer. You could count the pebbles on the bottom.

The water was so clear it looks like the fish are floating in mid-air. The reds in the fish just stand out. These pictures were taken on Monday March 15, 1999. A beautiful day.
